New Citroen C5 Aircross
October 22, 2024 36 Citroen
Citroen brought several premieres to the Paris Motor Show, and we will tell you about them later, but the main star of the stand was this green car. Formally, it is still a concept car, but it gives a fairly accurate indication of what the second-generation Citroen C5 Aircross crossover will look like. After all, the current Aircross has been in production for seven years and is already preparing for retirement.
In the new generation, the Citroen C5 Aircross will become noticeably larger: its length has increased from 4.5 to 4.65 meters. The height has remained almost unchanged (1.66 meters), while other parameters have not yet been disclosed. The crossover is designed in Citroen's new signature style, featuring distinctive three-section lighting and angular surfaces. It is also stated that the developers have worked diligently on the aerodynamics. The car has retractable door handles, a sloping roof, and special 21-inch wheels, although the Cx coefficient has not been published.
The new C5 Aircross will be the first Citroen on the STLA Medium platform, meaning that technically it will be related to the latest Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland models. The main difference between the STLA Medium platform and the previous EMP2 architecture is the expanded electrification capabilities: the range will include gasoline versions (with a 1.2 engine and a 48-volt starter-generator), plug-in hybrids (with a 1.6 turbo-four engine), and fully electric vehicles (with front or all-wheel drive, and batteries of 73 or 97 kWh).
The interior of the car has not yet been revealed. The production version of the second-generation Citroen C5 Aircross will be ready only next year. According to preliminary information, production in France will begin in April, with sales set to start in the summer.
