BYD is preparing to debut the flagship crossover Denza N9

In September of this year, Mercedes-Benz officially withdrew from the founders of the Chinese company Denza, which was established by BYD and (back then) Daimler in 2011. However, BYD does not intend to abandon its subsidiary brand and continues to expand its model lineup. Currently, it includes three model families, and soon a large crossover, the Denza N9, will join them. The model has already been added to the certification database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, where the first details have been revealed.
The Denza N9 is a massive crossover comparable in size to American full-size SUVs. Its length is 5258 mm, width 2030 mm, and height 1830 mm. The wheelbase is 3125 mm. Even more impressive are the weight figures: the curb weight is 3130 kg, and the gross weight is 3760 kg! The crossover is equipped with tires sized 275/45 R22, has cameras instead of mirrors, and a lidar for the autopilot system is visible on the roof. The interior details have not yet been disclosed.
The crossover uses BYD's proprietary e3 platform, which allows for the creation of both fully electric vehicles and hybrids. The hybrid version has been entered into the certification database. It is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine (207 hp, 325 Nm), assisted by three electric motors — one at the front and two at the rear. The total system output is 925 hp! It’s no surprise that this heavy vehicle can reach a speed of 230 km/h, but the acceleration time to 100 km/h has not yet been revealed. The BYD lithium iron phosphate traction battery has a capacity of 47 kWh, which should be enough for 165 km of electric-only range, though the total driving range is not yet known.
The specifications of the fully electric version will be revealed soon, and the full premiere of the Denza N9 model is expected before the end of this year. BYD intends to sell these vehicles not only in China but also in Europe, as the Denza N9 was recently spotted on the streets of London without any camouflage.
